You look a tad different,
Hey you, are you sure you want that?
Reluctant as she was, guilty she was made to feel,
Worthless, disgrace to the society, her fate they seal.
As she stared right into it, a few smiles turned into grin.
Her accomplishments at one go they tossed into the bin.
She almost reached to it, but they nodded in dismay,
Trying to confirm into the set standards, her life they downplay.
“Beautiful and her?”, one said while the other still fixated on her choice,
Leaving her with self loathe, hate and deeming their right to suppress her voice.
Instead she should’ve just grabbed that piece of cake, ignored those eyeballs.
“Look at her guts”, they should’ve said instead they made her believe the false.
With a jerk, she suddenly opened her eyes, “good morning”, the sunshine said.
Confused and blank, she noticed a piece of cake next to her bed.
Shrugging off their opinions in her bad dream, she smiled and dug into the cake.
She knew she was beautiful, her life she made– the society couldn’t break.
